The benefits of supporting workplace injuries...

Occupational health is an incredibly effective way in preventing and treating injuries amongst staff and here’s how…

Utilising Pre-Placement Assessments:

Pre-placement assessments are incredibly useful for workforces and employers in managing employee health from the beginning of their journey with you. Pre-placement assessments help ensure that new employees are physically and mentally fit to carry out the requirements of their new job without posing a risk to themselves or others. They can also be used for existing employees who may be changing roles or working locations.

Ultimately, they are key in preventing workplace accidents due to poor health as they make sure the employee is in a role suitable to them, where they can carry out their tasks safely and effectively.

Health Surveillance:

This is a series of ongoing health checks for employees working with various workplace hazards. Health Surveillance is a proactive approach to assessing employees’ health in high-risk industries and providing early intervention where necessary. It helps prevent injuries and also is great in early detection so that treatments can be administered sooner rather than later, minimising long-term absences and health issues.

Physiotherapy:

It doesn’t matter what career people have, everyone can experience musculoskeletal (MSK) disorders, new or pre-existing. Workplaces can actually exacerbate MSK issues and pain, so it’s important to have access to physiotherapy to help people who need treatment for injuries or help in injury management and recovery. It helps people remain at work, as well as helps people return to work quickly.

Effective physiotherapy will help your employees across a range of physical problems including;

  • Neck, back and shoulder pain
  • Whiplash injuries
  • Sports injuries
  • Arthritis
  • Post-surgery recovery

There are many causes for the need of physiotherapy, and so here at UKIM Occupational health & Wellbeing, we have tailored assessments to ensure employees access the correct treatment and so that we can ultimately help your business needs.

Why is it important to manage and support workplace injuries?

Firstly, it’s important to note that health surveillance can be a legal requirement! So if your business exposes employees to risk from noise, vibration, or hazardous substances, then Health and Safety law requires a Health Surveillance scheme to be put in place.

Secondly, workplace injuries play a large part in increased absences, both long and short term. If you’re experiencing high absences, then it might be because you don’t have enough preventative measures in place. At UKIM Occupational Health & Wellbeing, we tailor our services to suit both business and employee needs. Not to mention, having accessible occupational health effectively treats and supports rehabilitation for those who have sustained an injury, meaning quicker returns to work, reduced costs, and greater returns on investment.

  • Reduced absences
  • Better retention
  • Reduced costs
  • Effective returns to work
  • Improved finances and productivity
  • Greater returns on investment (ROI)
